Ian Cockerill talks to the Upper Echelon about his career in mining, his love of Africa and conservation as well as his advice to businesses in the current economic climate.

Ian Cockerill is the executive chairman of Petmin and was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Gold Fields Limited in Johannesburg. He joined De Beers, Namaqualand Division, as well as Free State Geduld & Saaiplaas mines in 1979. Cockerill worked at Phalaborwa open pit in 1978 and started his mining career in geological and mining departments Union Corporation, St Helena from 1975 to 1978.
