The rise of hedge funds, outsourcing of back-office functions, talent retention and, of course, regulation are just some of the issues on the agenda for investment managers.
How do you make sense of the current market – and how can you turn that into profitability and competitive advantage?
At Deloitte we recognise that different parts of the sector are affected differently by these and other issues – there are no “one-size-fits-all” solutions. Our clients range from hedge funds and private wealth managers to bank-owned investment managers. In each case we apply our sector expertise to help them to address the critical issues that face their particular business.
Retirement Fund Advisory Group
Success in the retirement fund industry depends on a combination of strategic flair and the ability to deliver, whilst avoiding the major governance and regulatory pitfalls. The Deloitte Advisory Group is designed to protect member interests and to assist trustees to demonstrate that they have discharged their fiduciary responsibilities.
Some of our successes in the industry include conducting a ground breaking survey into retirement fund governance; governance best practice benchmarking reviews; and risk assessment, identification and management programmes. Added to this, Deloitte is the preferred SAS70 provider to one of the largest fund administrators.
Hedge Funds: An Industry at a tipping point
Events in the financial markets combined with the heightened demand for greater transparency have created a tipping point in the hedge fund industry. Rather than focusing on short-term goals, hedge funds should proactively define a long-term vision and strategy to attract and retain capital.
Revised Regulation 28
Regulation 28 regulates how retirement funds can invest their assets to ensure that their long term commitments to members are met. It now provides welcome guidance to Trustees to formulate appropriate investment strategies to provide suitable retirement benefits to members, in addition to assets limits.
