Trevor Brown
Chairman

Trevor Brown was admitted as a partner of Deloitte in 1988 and has served the firm for 32 years.
He was appointed partner-in-charge of the Johannesburg Audit office in 1997, and was appointed to the firm's Executive Committee (Exco) in 1998 as the service line leader of Audit. During 2005, he was appointed as the Clients and Markets leader of the Southern African firm, continuing to serve on Exco. In 2011, Trevor resigned from Exco and was elected to the Board on 1 September 2011 as the Johannesburg representative, and was elected by the newly appointed Board as its chairman for the next three years.
He has been actively involved as advisory partner to many of the Southern African firm’s audit clients and is currently a lead client service partner to The Bidvest Group. |

Michael (Mike) Comber
Deputy Chairman
B Acc, CA (SA)
Mike Comber joined the firm in 1973. He studied through the University of Natal Durban and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. He spent two years working in the United States and United Kingdom in the early 1980s and upon his return to South Africa was appointed as an Audit partner in 1985.
Mike was the KwaZulu-Natal regional staff partner for six years followed by six years as the business unit leader of the KwaZulu-Natal Assurance and Advisory Services business, before moving to Johannesburg. During the 32 years he spent in our Durban office, Mike served many clients in the region including, among others Illovo Sugar Ltd, Dunlop Africa Ltd, the Massdiscounters Chain, a division of Masstores (Pty) Ltd, Crookes Brothers Ltd and McCarthy Retail Ltd. He also had advisory partner responsibilities in respect of a number of other clients.
Mike relocated to Johannesburg during 2005 to take the role as lead client service partner on Sappi Limited, which has its primary listing in Johannesburg, but which is also a foreign private issuer listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He is also the lead client service partner on Imperial Holdings Limited and leads the Firm’s Reputation, Risk and independence team.
Mike was appointed to the Board on 1 September 2008 and elected deputy chairman on 1 June 2010.

Grant Gelink
Chief Executive

Grant Gelink was appointed chief executive of Deloitte Southern Africa on 1 June 2006. He has served the firm for over 25 years, during which time he has been the lead client service partner for the Public Sector. Grant has also fulfilled the position of partner-in-charge of the Pretoria office and service line leader for Management Solutions, Deloitte & Touche Active Era, Human Capital Corporation and Deloitte Consulting. His global responsibilities include being a member of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Global Board and a member of the Global Risk Committee.
Grant is also the chairman of the African Children’s Feeding Scheme.

Allen Swiegers
Chief Operating Officer

Allen Swiegers was appointed COO of Deloitte Southern Africa on 1 June 2006. He chairs the firm’s Talent Board is a member of the Deloitte & Touche Global Talent Council. He has served the firm for 27 years.
Allen was the partner-in-charge of the Pretoria office from 2000 to 2006 and served as a Board member for two of those years before joining the Executive Committee in 2005. Allen is the executive sponsor of the Deloitte Way.

Christoffel (Chris) Beukman
Chief Financial Officer

As the firm’s CFO, Chris Beukman is responsible for Partner/Director Affairs as well as the financial affairs of the firm. Chris is also the firm’s Board secretary.
He has served 38 years with the firm. Chris was a group leader in Johannesburg Assurance from 1993 to 2001. He has been responsible for the management and direction of engagements for large multinational corporations in South Africa in accounting, advisory, auditing and due diligence services with extensive experience in the utilities and construction sectors.
Chris was a member of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Global Resources Group and was responsible for co-ordination of the group’s activities in Africa. |

Geoffrey (Geoff) Fortuin
B Com (Acc) Cum Laude; B Com (Acc) (Hons); CA(SA)
Geoff Fortuin has been a partner in the firm for almost 11 years and has had significant exposure to the property sector. He also serves as lead client service partner to listed company, Brimstone Investment Corporation Limited and has served listed clients such as Sea Harvest Corporation Limited and Command Holdings Limited.
Geoff was previously the business unit leader for Audit in Cape Town and was previously responsible for learning and transformation.
Geoff served on the Education Committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants for five years. He was appointed to the Board in 2011. |

Ruwayda Ebrahim
CA (SA)
Ruwayda Ebrahim was appointed a partner on in 2004, and serves as an Audit partner in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). She is currently responsible for clients such as Grindrod, McCarthy, G.U.D. Filters, Nampak Flexible and AdaptIT.
From 2004 to 2009, Ruwayda was previously the staff partner for her region, which involves the attraction, recruitment and retention of post-graduates to the firm.
Since 2007 she has been a member on the Remuneration Committee, a committee of the Deloitte Southern Africa Board.
Ruwayda was a member of the firm’s Transformation Advisory Board from 2008 to 2010. She was also the chairman of the Global Deloitte Young Partners Advisory Committee 2008/2009, reporting directly to the global CEO in office at the time.
Ruwayda was appointed business unit leader of Audit in KZN in 2011, and appointed to the Board of Deloitte Southern Africa in the same year.

Nazeer Essop

Nazeer Essop joined the firm in 1997 and was admitted as a partner of Deloitte in 2004 in the Pretoria office and has served the firm for 14 years.
Nazeer was the lead client service partner for the South African Reserve Bank and is currently the lead client service partner for the Auditor-General of SA and the South African Post Office. In addition, Nazeer is also the National Public Sector leader for Deloitte in South Africa.

Kamal Ramsingh
B Sc (Computer Science), MBL
Kamal Ramsingh initially joined the firm in 1993 in the Durban office. He studied through the University of Natal Durban and graduated with a BSc in Computer Science. He later completed his Masters in Business Leadership (cum laude) from the University of South Africa. Kamal was appointed as a director in Consulting in 2000 and was the industry leader of the Communications Industry Practice, serving clients such as Telkom and Vodacom.
After pursuing his own interests in the ICT and Consulting domains since 2003, Kamal returned to the firm in March of 2011, rejoining Consulting as a director. He leads the Technology service area within Consulting and is also the lead client service director of Telkom. Kamal was appointed to the Board in 2011.

Anthony (Tony) Zoghby

Tony Zoghby is the South African lead client service partner of the Anglo American Group where he is responsible for the delivery of all services from Deloitte on a global basis. He has also just assumed the role of lead client service partner on the Murray & Roberts group.
Tony has over 25 years experience serving a range of clients, particularly those in the mining industry and has built his career focusing on clients with international interests that require multinational client service.
He is currently Deloitte Africa industry leader for Mining, having just rotated out of his second term as Deloitte Global leader for Mining.
Tony was the staff partner in the Johannesburg office from 1988 to1995 and was also a group leader in Johannesburg Audit for four years. Tony was appointed to the Board in 2010.

Louise Vosloo
BLC, LLB and LLM (Tax)
Louise Vosloo is an attorney who obtained the degrees BLC, LLB and LLM (Tax) from the University of Pretoria. She has been with Deloitte & Touche Tax division since 1992 and was appointed a director in Corporate Tax in 1997.
Louise is the lead director: International Tax. She assists a variety of listed companies and their subsidiaries as well as multi-national corporations with a wide range of tax matters including international tax matters. Louise is the lead tax director for major listed groups and other multi-national companies.

Charles K Larbi-Odam
BA (Hons) (Ghana), FCCA
Charles is Chartered Certified Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK). He joined Deloitte in January 2000. He moved to the Corporate Finance practice of Deloitte in 2003 and was appointed a director in January 2007.
With over 10 years experience in Deloitte, Charles has been responsible for developing the firm’s services in connection with valuations required for financial reporting purposes. He currently leads the IFRS valuation work in Deloitte Southern Africa.

Bongisipho (Bongi) Nyembe

Bongisipho (Bonga) Nyembe joined the firm in 2000 in the Entrepreneurial Services division (ES). He studied through the University of Natal Durban. On completion of his articles he was seconded to the New York office, through the firm’s JIT programme. On his return, he rejoined the South African practice as a manager in ES. He was appointed as a partner in Johannesburg Audit in June 2006.
Bonga has been actively involved in the transformation initiatives of the firm and has been the Transformation champion for Johannesburg Audit from 2005. In 2010 he was appointed as the Talent leader for Johannesburg Audit and was appointed to the management committee of the same business unit in June 2011.
Among other clients, Bonga is the partner on Pretoria Portland Cement, Imperial Dealerships, Avusa – NuMetro Division and Compass Group Southern Africa.

Nthobake (Nthobi) Angel

Nthobi Angel is an external advisor to the Deloitte Board of Partners and Directors. In addition, she is chairman of a women’s Group, TsaRona Investments, a director of ABSA Group and ABSA Bank and a director of Batho Bonke Capital. Nthobi is active in nature conservation and is a director of the Open Africa Initiative and the Peace Parks Foundation.
She chairs the ABSA Brand and Reputation sub-committee, is a trustee of the Absa Foundation and Kagiso Trust.
From 1994 to 1995, Nthobi was the public affairs manager at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer SA (Proprietary) Limited.
Thereafter she was appointed as general manager: Corporate Affairs at Engen Petroleum Limited, a position she held until early 2000, when she was appointed as executive director: Strategic Affairs at Engen. She played a key role in facilitating the first BEE transaction (Worldwide Africa Investments) in the oil industry, which later informed the Department of Minerals & Energy oil industry charter. She also was instrumental in establishing the joint SO2 environmental emissions monitoring programme between the Durban South communities and the Engen Refinery.
From 2001 to 2003 Nthobi was seconded to the Presidency by Engen, as Chief Operations Officer: Strategic Planning and Communications. She was part of the three member team with Tokyo Sexwale who put together the Batho-Bonke consortium which now has 10% equity in ABSA. From 2004 to 2005 she was appointed as CEO of Mvelaphanda Resources. Her last full time employment was with Eskom, as managing director: External Relations; she resigned in June 2006 to focus on her role as Chairman of TsaRona Investments.

Lot Ndlovu

Lot Ndlovu was appointed as an external advisor to the Board of Partners and Directors in 2010. Lot has been associated with the financial services industry for the last 16 years where he has occupied both executive and non-executive director roles.
His 10 years as an executive at the Nedbank Group included the positions of Group Human Resources Director and Chief Executive Officer for Peoples Bank. Lot has more than 18 years exposure as a non-executive director on other Boards outside the banking industry where he also served on various Board Committees.
He holds a Diploma in Labour Relations, the Executive Development Programme from North Western University in the USA, the Advanced Management Programme from Harvard in the USA, and an honorary doctorate from Tshwane University of Technology.
He has been involved in the public sector and Government assignments since 1994. He has played a leading role in the Black Business Caucus, the Black Economic Empowerment Commission and the Black Management Forum (BMF). His diverse role in the BMF from 1984 to 1999 include branch chairperson, national director on finance and public affairs, deputy national president, managing director and national president.
