World Environment Day
Deloitte celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June 2009 at The Woodlands Building. Globally, the theme World Environment Day in 2009 is “Your Planet needs you! Unite to Combat Climate Change”. To mark the day, we hosted representatives from the National Energy Efficiency campaign who are working with the public, across all sectors of society, to conquer their “energy addictions”. The National Energy Efficiency campaign has recognised and congratulated our firm for our energy efficiency efforts. There were lots of great prizes given to staff.
Earth Hour
Deloitte signed up for Earth Hour and encouraged staff to support Earth Hour on Saturday, 28 March at 20h30 by turning out their lights for one hour. We joined tens of millions of concerned citizens and corporations across the globe in calling for action to save our planet for future generations. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major international campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to show their support for action on climate change. It is about making simple changes that will collectively make a difference.
Arbor Week
Deloitte celebrated Arbor Week by purchasing indigenous seed bags for each staff member of Deloitte South Africa. Staff was encouraged to plant indigenous seeds so that we could offset our carbon emissions in order to help manage our impact on the environment.

Deloitte has been able to develop a climate change solutions team who offer climate change services to our clients.
