Irene Walsh joined Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC to lead the U.S. Infrastructure and Project Finance Advisory practice, bringing more than twenty-five years of experience in infrastructure finance across the spectrum of ratings, advisory, debt capital markets, credit banking, project finance, and international development banking. Specializing in public sector clients and public private partnerships, Irene has experience in the U.S., Western Europe, Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union, Middle East and Latin America in several infrastructure sectors, most notably transportation.
Experience
- Ms. Walsh began her career at Moody’s Investors Service where she shared responsibility for State ratings and was a member of the rating committee that determines all public finance ratings. At JP Morgan she was an award-winning sell-side analyst and later, an investment banker for major U.S. municipal borrowers including the City of New York, the State of Connecticut, and the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
- Beginning in 1997, Ms. Walsh spent a decade in London working internationally, first with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where she assisted Prague, Warsaw, Riga and a variety of other sub-sovereign governments in developing debt-financed infrastructure programs, and later with another “Big Four” firm where she specialized in Public Private Partnerships (PPP), advising projects such as London’s Crossrail, Dublin Metro, and Athens Metro before returning to the U.S. to develop the firm’s practice in U.S. PPP. In 2007, she joined UBS to advise U.S. State governments and corporates on infrastructure finance, working with, among others, the successful bidder on the proposed privatization of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
