New Year fairy tale

Happiness and a child’s laughter – what could be more beautiful?

Tashkent, 2012

On December 22, Deloitte continued its traditional New Year charity event in Tashkent. This year, Deloitte employees visited the young patients at the hemotoxic ward of the National Blood Transfusion Institute with gifts and a festive mood.

Each year, Deloitte employees collect money to give children in hospital a New Year they can remember. In previous years, the guys put on a show for children in oncological and AIDS centres, psychoneurosis clinics, and this year was no exception. What could be more beautiful than a smile on the face of a child who has forgotten about his quite adult pain and sadness for a while? We are sure that we will continue our tradition of charity and social support in the future. Apart form the New Year events; Deloitte conducts various social projects such as sponsoring the publication of a book celebrating 80 years since the foundation of the children’s museum of arts. We also support talented children from a local orphanage art school.

What does New Year mean for children? Of course, it means happiness and gifts, all of which they received this year. A local puppet theatre put on a colourful presentation involving characters such as Hoja-Nasretdin, Carlson and, of course, clowns. We tried to create a festive atmosphere and mood for the centre’s children and their parents. To finish the show, the children met Santa Claus and his helper who brought gifts bought using the money collected.

The youngsters will remember this New Year for a long time. Artur Petrov, the father of one of the patients said, “Our children are seriously ill and we are so grateful to Deloitte for putting on such a happy event and for the generous gifts. We can see through the children’s and parents’ eyes how much they enjoyed the show. Thank you to the representatives from Deloitte for this unforgettable celebration. Seeing the children makes us happy too. I think that this event has given the children new incentive to get well, and the doctors and their parents to help them in their goal”.

Over the last seven years, Deloitte Tashkent employees have been putting on charity events before New Year to give happiness to sick children. Two years earlier, Deloitte New Year team visited the surgical department at the children’s cancer clinic, and before that – the children’s department of the National Blood Transfusion Institute.
