What are companies doing for children?
With the signing of Mariella De Aurrecoechea, Partner of Deloitte, and Egidio Crotti, UNICEF Representative in Uruguay, a new strategic alliance was agreed in order to show the way in which Uruguayan companies relate to childhood regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
What are companies doing for children? That is the question the research project, undertaken by Deloitte in alliance with UNICEF Uruguay, attempts to answer. The study is a first approximation to the relationship between the private sector and children in our country.
In the study, to be held in the first half of 2012, the companies’ activities concerning different CSR dimensions will be explored, including: companies’ involvement in activities that benefit children and teenagers (those actions aiming to improve the quality of life of employees’ children), business communication policies that companies take with their clients in regard to childhood, the relationship established with suppliers concerning the fulfilment of childhood rights; and the responsibility that companies have to future generations when it comes to caring for the environment.
Crotti and De Aurrecoechea signed on 28 December 2011, at UNICEF offices. "Early childhood should be a national project, and that includes as well the business sector," Crotti said when signing, and in that manner he was deeply grateful to Deloitte for its commitment. De Aurrecoechea said that members of the company are very pleased to enter into this agreement. "It will be a nice challenge for everyone" she concluded.
