Greg Scott Named National Sector Leader of Deloitte’s Health Plans Practice
NEW YORK, August 12, 2014 – Deloitte announced the appointment of Greg Scott as vice chairman and national sector leader for Deloitte’s health plans practice, one of the leading accounting and consulting organizations to the health insurance sector with nearly 800 professionals serving most of the top 25 U.S. health plans and managed care companies in addition to a majority of the Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations.
A principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP, Scott has an extensive background in professional services and as a corporate executive and policy leader given prior positions at Anthem (now WellPoint) and the Health Care Financing Administration (now the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
Scott succeeds Bill Copeland, who initiated the transition to focus more on his role as national industry leader of Deloitte’s life sciences and health care practice, which encompasses Deloitte’s health plans, providers and life sciences practices.
“We look forward to Greg’s leadership and the impact he will have on the plans sector as it responds to continued uncertainty,” said Copeland. “With the shift underway related to the exchanges and with consumers taking more responsibility over their health care, companies are looking for leadership and confidence in mapping the right path forward. Greg brings to the role the broad view that is needed to navigate today’s environment.”
Scott has been with Deloitte for 16 years, most recently as leader of consulting services to the plans sector. His client service resume includes commercial health plans and such adjacent sectors as integrated delivery systems, pharmacy benefit managers and federal and state agencies.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to take on the leadership of such a strong practice, and to do so during such a dynamic era for the health insurance industry,” said Scott. “Plans are not only dealing with the shift toward a retail market but also with increasing convergence across the health spectrum. I look forward to working with our leadership in delivering Deloitte’s cross-sector and multi-disciplinary perspective in helping health plans address issues and identify opportunities during this time.”
Based in Deloitte’s Pittsburgh office, Scott is an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received degrees in English literature, public policy and management. His community service includes serving on the board of directors of public radio and television broadcaster WQED Multimedia.
