Deloitte Announces Dynamic Review: A New Approach to Discovery

NEW YORK, May 22, 2013 – Deloitte today unveiled Dynamic Review, a proprietary methodology to combine human review with advanced analytics -- including predictive coding -- to help large organizations reduce costs and increase efficiency in evidence collection for internal investigations and litigation with external parties.

“Whether our clients sit in highly regulated or actively litigious industries, they’re asking us for a cost-effective, repeatable approach to evidence processing and analysis,” said Jack Walker, principal in Discovery, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP.  “Early users of Dynamic Review have cut the cost and duration of document review by more than half—while significantly increasing the speed with which they can identify and analyze the most important documents to a matter.”

Going beyond the industry standard of statistically validating discovery software algorithms, Deloitte’s Dynamic Review leverages a layered series of analytics, including visualization, to supplement statistical validation and provide insight into predictive coding results. The layered methodology allows Deloitte to monitor against review progress and provides the right insight to course correct if needed.

“Many in the industry talk about best algorithms, but algorithms alone cannot realize savings or reduce risk in an implementation context,” continued Walker. “Methodologies like Dynamic Review help companies efficiently and cost-effectively manage workflow in the continued growth of electronically stored information.”
