The Edge: Human Capital Management Newsletter - Spring 2009

Giving you a market edge

Publish date:

Human Capital Management Newsletter - Spring 2009

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to The Edge, a quarterly electronic newsletter from the Deloitte SAP service line that is specifically focused on HCM topics. Our goal is to provide you with timely and relevant information on human resources (HR) strategy, operations and technology. As implied in the title, the objective is to help give you an edge in critical areas impacting the marketplace and your organization.

Our mission is to keep you up-to-date on leading issues that affect your business, as well as alert you to upcoming HR conferences and Webcasts that support the effectiveness of your service delivery, processes and management systems (whether SAP-based, or not). You will also see features that highlight the practices and tools that could help you accelerate SAP HCM initiatives in your organization and realize their benefits and value faster than ever.

In this issue, we explore the following topics:

  • Increasing End-User Adoption — and Satisfaction— With New SAP Self-Service Offerings
One of the key challenges faced during SAP implementations is successful adoption of the new SAP solution by end-users. For a time, many end-users viewed SAP solutions as somewhat unintuitive, lacking many of the typical usability features found in other applications they rely on every day. But that is changing with the latest generation of SAP Portal-based, self-service offerings that provide many opportunities to increase end-user adoption—and satisfaction.
  • Las Vegas Named Site Of One of 2009’s Most Anticipated HR Conferences
For organizations that run and support SAP HR solutions—from payroll to MSS and ESS, benefits, compensation and talent management — the big event is coming! And that is the 2009 SAP HR Conference,  held March 17-20 in Las Vegas.
  • This Issue’s Featured Practitioner: Deloitte's Sylvia Chaudoir
Her advice — know your users and keep it simple.
  • Client Q&A: Global implementations of SAP HCM
There are certain questions that we hear more often than others from clients.  We thought our readers might find it useful to see our line of thinking in responding to issues of common interest.
  • Deloitte and SAP to Co-Host West Coast SAP HCM Seminars
Throughout the spring of 2009, Deloitte and SAP will co-host a series of seminars focused on methods and tools designed to lower the cost of implementing SAP HCM, and accelerating the ROI of doing so. The first of these seminars will be held at the upcoming SAP HR2009 conference in Las Vegas between March 17 and 19.  Additional seminars will be held in the San-Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Southern California in April and May. For more information, or to register for these seminars, please contact Nancy Gieringer ( ngieringer@deloitte.com) or at +1 650 248 9708.

We believe The Edge will serve as a useful resource for managing the many challenges faced by HR departments today. We also understand that you receive a great deal of e-mail, so we are making efforts to ensure that the time you spend reviewing The Edge is productive time for you.

Thanks for giving us the time and opportunity to share our latest thinking with you and perhaps others in your company.

Best regards,
