When it comes to tax data, the old adage “garbage in, garbage out” rings as true as ever. In fact, many tax leaders cite data collection and processes for extracting information from ERP systems and converting it into a legal entity format, as one of their biggest challenges. Without the right data in the right format, everything else — including technology, processes, and people — cannot perform as expected.
Based on a Dbriefs webcast hosted by Deloitte, this report reviews ways of improving tax data collection processes. Presenters addressed common data collection issues, features within software packages that can help streamline efforts, and leading practices for improving data collection. In particular, they presented a “blueprinting” approach that can have a significant impact on the organization. More than 1,200 participants shared their own views through responses to polling questions posed during the webcast.
