Allianz of America Corporation (Allianz), submitted in-depth comments to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) asking for limitations to the current scope of FATCA.
The Allianz comments were in response to certain questions regarding the German/European legal environment that arose from a meeting Allianz had with U.S. Treasury staff at the end of June to comment on FATCA. The letter addresses some of the questions raised by the U.S. Treasury staff, and documents some of the concerns the U.S. Treasury had regarding perceived abuses in certain insurance products.
