The credit crisis, setbacks in the mortgage industry, and efforts by the government and private sector to restore liquidity and revive the markets have resulted in both challenges and opportunities for owners and servicers of distressed debt. In fact, the markets have witnessed a growing number of investments in distressed debt as well as a desire to repackage existing positions, using a range of approaches.
Traditional tax accounting that employs spreadsheets or similar applications may not be sufficient to access and track the large volumes of data associated with these investments on a highly detailed loan-level basis, let alone generate the appropriate reports. Our Tax Analysis and Information Reporting for Debt Investments (TARDI) database technology provides tools that organize and manipulate massive amounts of data relating to the numerous activities that occur and are required to be tracked and computed at the individual loan level as required by the Internal Revenue Service.
