- Baucus health care proposal clears CBO hurdle; Finance Committee vote set for October 13 – Senate health care reform legislation took a step forward as the Congressional Budget Office announced that a proposal drafted by Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., would cost $829 billion and reduce federal deficits by $81 billion over the 10-year budget window; the final committee vote is set for October 13.
