  • Finance health care mark-up to continue next week; House moves closer to floor action – After four days of negotiations, the Senate Finance Committee put its mark-up of comprehensive health care legislation on hold and adjourned for the weekend without debating any of the 100-plus tax amendments that have been offered by Democratic and Republican members; meanwhile, House leaders are preparing to merge that chamber’s three health care bills into a single package for an eventual floor vote.
  • Credit card issuers’ interchange income is properly treated as OID, rules tax court – The Tax Court held that credit card issuers properly treated the “interchange” income received with respect to Visa and MasterCard credit cards as original issue discount under section 1272(a)(6)(C)(iii).
