Multistate Tax Alert: Kansas Enacts Individual Income Tax Law Changes


On May 22, 2012, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed House Bill 2117, implementing a number of significant individual income tax law changes effective for tax year 2013 and years that follow, including:

  • Restructured income tax brackets with reduced tax rates
  • An increased standard deduction
  • A new exemption for non-wage business income
  • The elimination of certain tax credits
