  • Wheels set in motion for Baucus’s exit; status of Finance Committee tax reform agenda remains unclear – The timetable for Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus’s transition from Capitol Hill to the diplomatic corps began to take shape as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced that it will hold a hearing on January 28 to consider the Montana Democrat’s nomination to serve as the next U.S. ambassador to China.
  • Administration’s FY 2015 budget package delayed – The Office of Management and Budget announced that the Obama administration will send its tax-and-spending blueprint for fiscal year 2015 to Congress on March 4, four weeks after its statutory deadline.
