Meet Paul Sallomi
Partner, Deloitte Tax LLP
Paul Sallomi believes that as a Deloitte professional his job is to help his clients improve what they do. It’s what drives him at his job as a partner and U.S. Industry Leader for Deloitte Tax LLP, where he also serves as U.S. Technology Industry Leader, Global Lead Tax Partner to several of Deloitte’s tax clients in the tech industry, and OCEO Tax Advisory Group Leader. Paul’s experience includes federal, multistate, and international tax planning and compliance, transfer pricing planning, reorganization services, merger and acquisition planning, and accounting for income taxes, including related financial controls and process consultations.
Paul joined Deloitte Tax 1991. The years that followed have taken him from working with high net worth individuals and family owned businesses in his earliest years to traveling around the world to work with global multinationals. These experiences have helped him become more flexible and work in vastly differing circumstances depending on the client. When he’s not working, he and his wife love to entertain and cook for friends. And they volunteer in their Palo Alto community—at the school their son attends and with youth programs, like scouting and baseball. Paul’s involvement in the community stems from a belief in service, in making others’ lives better.
That’s why he feels so at home at Deloitte. There’s a sense of shared values that he cherishes, along with the professional opportunities. “There’s no better environment for a creative person who is engaged in and embraces the concept of lifelong learning and wants to take on new challenges and opportunities, who wants to be associated with leading professionals,” he says. “And, it’s important to me to help groom our younger and newer colleagues to grow into and assume roles that will both enable them to reach their goals and help the firm and our clients. There are many talented new partners and directors working with me now for whom I’m glad to have helped along the way.”
What value does he feel he brings to his clients? “We talk about taking a proprietary interest in our clients and I take that to heart,” he says. “My clients know I’m available to them and fully engaged when I am with them, no matter the issue. I’ve always believed throughout my career that it’s my job to accept responsibility and distribute credit. My clients and our professionals appreciate that.”
