  • Ways & Means Republicans continue tax reform outreach to lawmakers, public – House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp and his fellow GOP taxwriters launched a new round of efforts to keep tax reform in the spotlight as they laid out plans to persuade Republican House members – and leaders – to make a tax code overhaul part of the chamber’s 2014 legislative agenda and released a public awareness video touting the benefits of tax simplification.
  • Omnibus spending bill cuts IRS budget from FY 2013 levels – Congress approved and sent to the White House an omnibus appropriations package for fiscal year 2014 that sets funding for the Internal Revenue Service at $11.3 billion – $526 million below the amount enacted for fiscal year 2013 and $1.5 billion below the amount requested in the budget proposal President Obama released last February.
