Deloitte, in conjunction with Varicent, is pleased to release the results of its 2010 Strategic Sales Compensation Survey.
The sales world has had a tough time over the last two years; that much was confirmed by over 250 sales leaders in this year’s 2010 Strategic Sales Compensation Survey. But optimism is also starting to return, and many of their sales teams have begun making preparations for an upturn in their marketplace. Nonetheless, the survey uncovered some potential constraints in how companies approach their sales compensation that could limit their ability to take full advantage of better times.
Some of the key survey findings include:
- 78 percent used more than one tactic in responding to the downturn; which included 35 percent that were forced to reduce sales staff
- 57 percent are not satisfied with their current sales compensation plans
- 40 percent of respondents have not actively addressed retention in incentive compensation
- 75 percent see sales compensation as at least moderately challenging to administer
