Social Business: What’s On Your Mind?
In August 2011, Deloitte and MIT Sloan Management Review (SMR) launched an Innovation Hub on Social Business. In addition to providing content and stories about relevant topics in social business, the SMR-Deloitte team began a year-long study on how employees and organizations are using social business within their organizations and with their end users.
Over the next several months, the Deloitte-SMR MIT team collected and analyzed data from over 3,400 respondents and interviewed over 25 researchers, analysts and company executives. The result? A report was published in May 2012 titled Social business: What are companies really doing? Since its release, the report has been cited and featured in articles and stories from various writers and bloggers. It has also been featured through a number of multimedia channels, such as through Deloitte’s Dbriefs series.
Over the past few months, the SMR-Deloitte team has been working on developing a research agenda for the 2012-2013 study. While we believe our year one report provided a holistic baseline, showcased interesting stories and shared useful data points, like any thoughtful piece of research we believe the report also opened up a series of questions in social media, such as:
- What are useful metrics to gauge return on investment and success of social business initiatives?
- What role should leadership play in social business initiatives?
- What short-term and long-term social business initiatives should we invest in?
In order to examine these questions and others, we have developed a survey to gather your insights and feedback. Your responses will be tabulated and incorporated to our 2012-2013 study, which will be released in the spring/summer of 2013.
The survey can be accessed via the link below; and while the actual report will be released sometime in the fall/summer of 2013, we will provide occasional updates of our findings on the MIT Social Business Innovation Hub as well as on our Deloitte on Technology blog.
