Meet Omar I. Aguilar

Principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP

Enterprise Cost Management (ECM) calls for a delicate balance between defining cost management strategies and implementing them to withstand the test of time. For more than 20 years, Omar I. Aguilar, principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP, has helped clients across the financial services, industrial and consumer products, pharmaceutical, media, technology and energy sectors in their efforts to balance the art and science of ECM and implement sustainable cost management strategies. Omar is both the offering leader for ECM and the global coleader of the Enterprise Cost Reduction Center of Excellence.

Omar has focused on helping clients implement cost management strategies through organizational design, business model transformation, organizational and operational restructurings, Shared Services delivery, business process outsourcing and performance management. He has published widely on the topic of sustainable and scalable cost changes, as well as been quoted in Business Finance, the Journal of Cost Management and the Wall Street Journal. Omar speaks frequently at conferences and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Management, and Stanford University’s Graduate Business School.

Omar is also the Strategy & Operations (S&O) Regional Leader for Americas, and the US Senior Partner for Deloitte Brazil.

Omar joined Deloitte Consulting with the acquisition of Gunn Partners, a specialized consultancy focused on organizational strategy and selling, general and administrative (SG&A) effectiveness and efficiency. At Gunn Partners, he was the managing director and SG&A Restructuring practice leader, as well as the former leader of the Finance and Cost Management practice.

Omar holds bachelor's and master's degrees in nuclear engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a master in business administration degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Michigan and Ohio.
