Meet Joe Guastella
Principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, Global Insurance Practice and U.S. Insurance Consulting Practice Leader
Based on challenges from the uncertain economic environment and changing regulations, insurance companies are now more than ever re-examining their operating models to better enable maximizing their profitability, minimizing their operating risks and winning larger percentages of market share. Joe Guastella has more than 20 years of experience guiding insurance company executives in their design of strategic change management and large scale transformations including market entry; product, customer and geography strategy; mergers and acquisitions; sustainable cost management; and process improvement work.
Joe leads Deloitte’s Global Insurance practice and is the U.S. Insurance Consulting practice leader responsible for service delivery in the areas of strategy, operations, human capital, technology and actuarial risk services. Prior to assuming his global and U.S. leadership roles, he led Deloitte’s Asia Pacific Insurance Consulting practice.
In addition to practice leadership, Joe serves our largest global clients and focuses on life insurance, annuity, pensions and retirement services markets. As part of this work, he advises clients on the strategic importance of benchmarking and performance measurement and management to create organizational alignment and improve overall value creation.
Guastella has written a number of published articles and white papers for the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including LOMA, IASA, LIMRA and IIS on topics including operational efficiency, performance management, distribution excellence, merger integration and growth strategies.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science and International Business and a MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
