The Heart of Change Field Guide
Tools and tactics for leading change in your organization
To help more leaders successfully use a eight-step process for dealine with change, outlined in the original The Heart of Change, Dan Cohen wrote "The Heart of Change Field Guide" (published by Harvard Business Press). In this second book the series, Dan provides leaders and managers with tools, frameworks and advice for bringing these breakthrough change methods to life within their own organizations.
The field guide provides a practical framework for implementing each step in the change process, as well as a new three-phase approach to execution: creating a climate for change, engaging and enabling the whole organization, and implementing and sustaining change. Hands-on diagnostics — including a crucial "change readiness module"— reveal the dynamics that will help or hinder success at each phase of the change process. Both flexible and scaleable, the frameworks presented in this book can be tailored for any size or type of change initiative.
The Heart of Change continues to have worldwide success as it introduced the revolutionary “see-feel-change” approach, which helped executives understand the crucial role of emotion in successful change efforts. To date, The Heart of Change has been translated into seventeen languages. Most recently, a Polish edition is expected to be published in 2009.
Harvard Business Publishing has launched its new Change Management Center, featuring Dan Cohen. The center is a comprehensive collection of resources to help leaders at all levels drive change management throughout their organization, which features media collections, toolkits, topical content and a broad range of featured thought leaders.
