Meet Simon Fisher

Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP

Valuation and risk management policies and procedures are receiving ever more regulatory attention. Valuation approaches are increasingly under a microscope as well. And companies are experiencing a growing need for more timely and actionable risk information. To assist clients with these challenges, Simon Fisher draws on his skills and experience in valuation, quantitative modeling, and monitoring and managing risks.

“Dealing with clients both across the United States and internationally has given me a unique perspective on valuation and risk management in the financial services industry. Increasing focus from regulators, investors, and others, as well as changes in the market itself, present opportunities for clients to improve their processes. I have found that assisting our clients – not only with determining potential areas of focus, but also walking hand-in-hand to address and enhance their policies and practices – has provided invaluable perspectives and experiences in today’s complex valuation and risk management landscape."

As a partner in Deloitte’s Financial Instrument Valuation team, Simon works primarily in the areas of valuation policies and procedures, risk management, and model assessment. He has assessed valuation and risk management policies, procedures, and methodologies, as well as provided assistance to clients as they enhance these policies, procedures, and methodologies. He has also assisted a number of clients with interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and market risk, and with projects related to the valuation of financial instruments, including model assessments for a wide range of risk management models. In addition, Simon has assisted clients with responding to feedback from, or in preparation for, reviews by regulators (primarily related to various aspects of risk management). Simon has also been involved in providing quantitative perspectives to fair value accounting standards work performed by Deloitte.

Simon was previously in Deloitte’s Banking and Securities Audit Practice, where he worked on engagements for a number of leading international Wall Street firms. His responsibilities included managing the audit of the Equity, Interest Rate, and Foreign Exchange business units, including the valuation auditing of the global derivative book.

Simon is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and a Chartered Accountant in South Africa.  He is a regular speaker at industry conferences and is also a primary author of Deloitte’s point of view document on model risk management.
