Meet Peter Wilm
Director, Deloitte & Touche LLP
Peter leads the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FA&R) advisory service practice within Deloitte. The national FA&R practice helps organizations address a wide range of issues around their accounting and financial reporting requirements by providing clients with an end-to-end solution to support financial reporting, as well as the creation and implementation of accounting policies related to new, emerging, and complex accounting guidance.
As the FA&R leader in the Financial Accounting, Valuation & Securitization (FAV&S) practice, he regularly works with chief executive officers, chief financial officers, treasurers, and controllers to help them solve problems related to complex technical accounting and financial risk management issues. Peter was previously the banking and securities leader for Deloitte’s FA&R advisory practice and he has more than 27 years of public and private accounting experience primarily in the financial services industries. Peter is also one of Deloitte’s liaisons with the banking regulators and works regularly with the banking regulators regarding industry issues.
Prior to joining the Deloitte, Peter was an executive vice president and assistant controller at MBNA where his responsibilities included financial accounting and reporting and accounting policy. Additionally, he managed the implementation and financial reporting of the bank’s accounting for credit card securitizations. Peter was also a professional accounting fellow at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. His responsibilities included involvement in the formulation, issuance and interpretation of regulatory accounting policies in the Chief Accountant’s Office. Areas of focus were mortgage accounting, securitizations and allowance for loan losses. Peter was a member on the Basel Committee’s subgroup on loan accounting and fair value accounting.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he holds a B.S. in accounting from Towson University.
