Meet John Powers
Principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP
John Powers is the leader of Deloitte’s Federal Government Services Department of Defense (DoD) Sector, one of the largest practices within Deloitte. He leads a team of approximately 1,300 dedicated practitioners who serve all branches of the military and the DoD.
Powers, a principal in Deloitte Consulting LLP, formerly led Deloitte’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) restructuring practice in the U.S. and globally. Throughout his career, he has helped to execute several large M&A projects around the world which have enabled the effective integration of more than 200,000 employees. The integrations of several large Government Services practices were carried out under Powers’ direction, including Deloitte’s integration of the BearingPoint Public Sector practice into the Deloitte Federal Government Services practice in 2009.
Powers is a visiting executive lecturer at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business on the topic of merger integration. He received his MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and his BA from Brown University. As an undergraduate he received an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and later served as an Army finance corps officer.
