Meet Scott G. Smith

U.S. National Clean Tech Leader and San Francisco Audit Partner-in-Charge, Deloitte & Touche LLP

Scott is Deloitte’s U.S. Clean Tech Leader and also serves as Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco Audit practice. Scott has more than 19 years of experience working with a broad spectrum of clients, including many clean tech and renewable energy clients. He has also served as lead audit partner on several regulated utility companies and as concurring review partner for other energy companies. He currently serves in a technical accounting role as Deputy PPD in San Francisco in which capacity he assists the lead technical partner in the office on a variety of matters.

Prior to joining the San Francisco office Scott spent three years as the US Partner in the London office of Deloitte & Touche where he worked on US GAAP and SEC matters for a number of US- and UK-based utilities and power producers, as well as a telecommunications manufacturer.

Scott is a frequent speaker on the topics of clean tech, energy and utilities. He has been an instructor at Deloitte & Touche’s annual technical accounting seminar each year since its inception in 1998 and frequently develops and teaches other technical accounting, reporting and internal control matters with a focus on the energy, utility and power industries.
