Sandy Cockrell is the national managing partner, U.S. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Program, based in the New York National Office of Deloitte LLP. The CFO Program enables Deloitte to achieve its strategic vision "to be recognized as the pre-eminent advisor to the CFO." Its mission is to develop and sustain deep advisory relationships with the CFOs of key clients by providing cross-functional service delivery support, training, and intellectual capital.
Prior to leading the CFO Program, Sandy was the lead partner of the New York office of Deloitte’s Special Acquisition Services (SAS) group, a multi-national team of tax and accounting professionals serving one of the world’s leading private equity firms with its acquisition, disposition and restructuring transactions. Before joining the SAS group in 1989, Sandy was a tax manager in the firm’s Raleigh office, where he first joined Deloitte in 1984.
Sandy served on the Board of Directors of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the firm’s global organization, and participated on the Membership Affairs and Board Composition Committees. He was also a member of Deloitte’s Americas Services Council driving a dynamic collaboration effort for regional opportunities across the Americas. Sandy has served on a number of the firm’s leadership and advisory committees, and has been a member and Vice Chairman of the firm’s U.S. Board of Directors.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Sandy earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sandy is a frequent contributor to news organizations including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, CNBC, CFO Magazine, and Forbes regarding issues facing CFOs.
