James "Chip" Cottrell Jr. is a partner in the Forensic & Dispute Services practice at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP. Chip has more than 30 years of experience in investigating, building and implementing change management and operations management at a wide range of companies and public sector organizations, including financial services, technology, transportation and communication entities.
A veteran specialist in global operations, finance and trade, Chip is an experienced business executive and consultant. He has led or advised in the founding, development, positioning, and turnarounds of companies in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, China and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. A forensic accountant, he has lived and worked for over 20 years in Europe and Asia and has had broad hands-on experience with respect to alliances, partnerships, acquisitions, liquidations and reorganizations.
Clients have included Fortune 100 companies as well as small to medium-sized enterprises. One of his many strengths is designing project methodologies and tools in areas as broad as complex investigations, practical operations management, financial restructuring, risk management and corporate governance. His experience includes engagement as a consulting expert in litigation, arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution matters.
