Orlando Setola is the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) leader . He provides a wide range of valuation and related financial advisory services to leading technology, media, and telecommunications companies around the world. This also includes services (domestically and globally) for financial reporting, financial structuring, merger and acquisition analysis, tax and regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, strategic financial planning, and lease financing.
Orlando studied electrical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology and earned an MBA in finance at Seton Hall University before starting with Deloitte in 1993.
“What I like about valuation is understanding the underlying value proposition of a company, their technology, what they offer, their market and business model, and translating that knowledge into what the company or technology is worth,” he explains.
Orlando particularly enjoys his work in the context of TMT because “It’s always evolving—not just consumer technology, but the technology that underlies every aspect of business today.”
While valuation is his core specialty, Orlando also works in the areas of bankruptcy, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions and dispute resolution. “Deloitte is a great platform,” he adds. “I really like being part of a partnership structure and appreciate the camaraderie and teaming that a partnership fosters. We’re solutions oriented and are focused on putting the right team together to assist a client in finding good solutions.”
