Barbara Gniewek is a principal and National Health Care Industry Leader in Deloitte Consulting LLP’s Human Capital Advisory Services practice. She has a broad health care consulting background and provides health care consulting services to both providers and purchasers of health care plans. Barbara’s consulting focus is on creative plan design options, financing alternatives, communication, and administration of group health, pharmacy, disability and life programs and products, with particular emphasis on cost-savings strategies. She also provides managed care entities with operational improvement and product development expertise (including Medicare and Medicaid), and has provided turnaround management services for HMOs. She also heads Deloitte’s national Operations Excellence services team, and leads its national Consumer-Driven Health Care team.
Barbara has more than 15 years of health care consulting experience. She holds a BA in mathematics and economics from Denison University. Barbara has published articles on topics including health care claim auditing, Quality of Health Care, the Financial and Strategic Impact of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 on health plans, and the Defined Contribution Approach to Health Plans.
