Center for Corporate GovernanceThe Deloitte LLP Center for Corporate Governance (Center) supports executives, boards of directors, and others active in governance by providing them with resources pertaining to current boardroom issues and governance trends.

The Center’s activities demonstrate its focus to encourage dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration between corporations, board members, the accounting profession, academia, and government.

The Center often assists Deloitte professionals by responding to client inquiries on topics ranging from audit committee leading practices to structures of the board.

The Center's Resources and Activities

Governance Veteran joins Deloitte’s Center for Corporate Governance 

Former Tyco International Ltd. (Tyco) Senior Vice President of Corporate Governance, Eric M. Pillmore, has joined Deloitte’s Center for Corporate Governance. Pillmore will assist Deloitte clients on issues of corporate governance. Through his governance, risk management and ethics work with Tyco and its board of directors, Pillmore helped transform Tyco into a leader in corporate governance. GovernanceMetrics International recognized Tyco as the most improved U.S. company in the governance area from 2002-2005. Prior to joining Deloitte, Pillmore was a consultant to board members of Fortune 500 and growing enterprises on governance matters. He also previously served as chief financial officer to organizations within the technology, plastics and medical systems sectors. Pillmore began his career as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.

Sponsorships and Organizational Affiliations
The Center focuses on building strong relationships with governance leaders and organizations. These relationships help Deloitte to stay current on research needs in the marketplace and provides opportunities to contribute a point of view that can elevate issues relevant to clients, directors, and the broader corporate community. 

Deloitte has been a long-time supporter of the Millstein Center for Corporate Governance and Performance at the Yale School of Management. The Center played a crucial role in the publication of the Millstein Center’s policy paper, Chairing the Board: The Case for Independent Leadership in Corporate North America. In addition, the Center sponsors the recurring Board Practices Survey of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and a survey with NACD Directorship on the topic of what society thinks about the boardroom community.

Public Policy
The Center collaborates with third-party policy groups contribute to global research projects on strategy, economic development, and performance measurement. For example, Deloitte participated in: The Aspen Institute’s Long-Term Value Creation: Guiding Principles for Corporations and Investors, and the Committee for Economic Developments Built to Last: Focusing Corporations on Long-Term Performance, and collaborated with the Financial Executives Research foundation on Earnings Guidance: The Current State of Play.
