Meet Ajit Kambil
Global Research Director, CFO Program, Deloitte LLP
Dr. Ajit Kambil is the Global Research Director and Transition Lab Leader of Deloitte's CFO Program, Deloitte LLP. As research director, he oversees CFO Insights, a bi-weekly publication serving over twenty thousand subscribers, and a diverse research agenda on topics such as leadership, capital markets and risk. Building on his research study, Taking the Reins, Ajit developed Deloitte’s CFO Transition Lab (Lab) which helps CFOs make an efficient and effective transition into their new role. He has also adapted the Lab to serve other select CxO roles.
Previously as Global Director of Deloitte Research from October 2003 to September 2008, Ajit renewed a worldwide group of researchers committed to developing and bringing new ideas, insights, and innovations to the clients and leaders of Deloitte. He professionalized survey, editorial, and economics capabilities and expanded thought leadership activities to India and continental Europe. Ajit also expanded the coverage of industry issues and Deloitte's presence in leading publications such as the Harvard Business Review.
Before joining Deloitte, Ajit was a senior research fellow and associate partner with Accenture's Institute for Strategic Change (now the Institute for High Performance Business) where he led diverse research programs in eCommerce, supply chains, venturing and innovation. In addition, he pioneered concepts like co-creation, fast venturing, and the innovative use of electronic and prediction markets, and RFID-enabled silent commerce.
As a faculty member at New York University's Stern School of Business, Ajit led the NSF-sponsored EDGAR on the Internet project. This project, from 1993-1995, was one of the first financial applications on the Internet and made corporate disclosures filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission widely available to the public, free of charge. At New York University, he also introduced eCommerce courses in the MBA and Executive MBA programs ahead of major business schools. He was appointed a distinguished scholar in residence at Babson in 2003.
Ajit is widely published in Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review and leading management and technology journals on diverse topics. He was a regular columnist in the Journal of Business Strategy, and his award winning book, Making Markets: How to Profit from Online Auctions and Exchanges, was published by Harvard Business School Press. He is a public speaker on diverse management and technology topics as well.
Ajit has advised numerous companies on technology, eCommerce, and strategy issues, and he previously worked with Arthur D. Little and Intelsat. Passionate about entrepreneurship, he is a Charter Member of TiE Boston, and he counsels entrepreneurs. He holds a PhD in information systems and three other degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
