Sheila Smith is a principal with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP (Deloitte FAS), and the national service line co-leader for its Corporate Restructuring Group, Deloitte CRG. She is also the leader of Restructuring Services for the Americas region. Sheila previously led Financial Advisory Services in New England, overseeing corporate finance, forensic & dispute, valuation, economic consulting and business intelligence services. She possesses hands-on experience in the areas of turnaround, bankruptcy and restructuring advisory for diverse parties-in-interest, including debtors, secured creditors and unsecured creditor committees.
Sheila has more than 20 years of industry experience in manufacturing, retail, distribution and high technology. She has worked on behalf of several private equity firms and publicly traded clients to help them in their efforts to assess portfolio companies with respect to risk and formulating exit strategies that maximize recovery. She also has extensive experience working in the consumer products industry to deliver cost containment and performance improvement services to help companies in their efforts to return to profitability.

Prior to joining Deloitte FAS, she was a managing director at another “Big Four” firm in the Global Financial Strategies Group, with primary responsibilities in the Corporate Restructuring practice. Sheila was recently awarded the 2012 Turnaround Management Association’s Chairman’s Award for her contributions to the turnaround industry. She was previously named “Executive of the Year” by the New York Institute of Credit’s Women’s Division. In 2005 Sheila was the recipient of the Turnaround Management Association’s International Outstanding Individual Contribution Award for her eminence in the profession.
Sheila holds a bachelor of science degree and a master of science in education degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a master of business administration degree from Boston University.
