The one great thing about our business is you don’t have to choose between things that are driven more from the business side or the people side because they are intertwined. When our clients are successful, our people are successful. When our people our successful, our clients are successful. They go hand in hand.
My career at Deloitte has enabled me to do many things that I dreamed of as a kid and it is great when you can say that about your career. I have been able to travel around the world and across the country. I have been able to do what I love to do best, which is solve problems and most importantly develop important lifelong friendships.
This is some of my family. We took on a project to build a library that is part of an orphanage in a little village in Ghana and we are here in the photo at the dedication ceremony. One of the orphans gave me this bracelet. It belonged to her. I don’t know where she got it from, but she gave it up to give to me and these kids have nothing.
I grew up in Washington DC area after being away for a number of years. I returned to Washington to actually get involved with federal government. Leading our homeland security practice is both rewarding and challenging. There are a number of threats that our country faces, cyber security, aviation security, real security, and many others. To be able to work with our government to help them define solutions to these threats is extremely rewarding and very important quite honestly, so we take our jobs very seriously and we realize that the consulting work that we do actually does matter. It makes a difference to our entire country.
