Bio

Executives today recognize the importance of implementing good governance practices to facilitate compliance with changing regulations. They also understand the need to address the business risks that threaten strategic objectives around growth and profitability. When it comes to helping companies address these critical regulatory, risk, and compliance challenges, Kevin McGovern has a demonstrated track record.

“Throughout my tenure at Deloitte, I have seen the business environment shift dramatically, which has helped to shape my perspective as a trusted adviser in helping companies in addressing their regulatory, risk, and compliance challenges. The spotlight is on as never before, and organizations need carefully crafted risk management strategies to address the effects of regulatory reform, technology change, competitive dynamics, and market movements.”

Kevin is a partner with Deloitte, the leader of the Governance, Regulatory & Risk Strategies practice, and a member of the Executive Committee of Deloitte. He focuses on providing regulatory compliance, operational, and technology consulting services and advice to organizations in the investment management industry, including investment management firms, mutual funds, transfer agents, banks, broker-dealers, and insurance companies. Kevin has assisted many investment management firms nationally in designing and implementing operational systems, performing risk and internal control assessments over operations, and analyzing regulatory compliance needs.

In addition, Kevin has served as Deloitte’s independent consultant in connection with various SEC administrative activities, and he has assisted clients and their counsel in formulating responses to SEC investigations.

Kevin received a BBA degree from the University of Notre Dame. He is a certified public accountant licensed in Massachusetts, and he is also a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Outside of the office, Kevin is a board member for the Lawrence, Massachusetts, Boys and Girls Club, and he has organized a Deloitte team to help at the site during Deloitte’s annual community Impact Day. Kevin is a member of the United Way of MassBay and Merrimack Valley and served as a member on the United Way’s allocation committee. In addition, Kevin is an avid bicyclist and annually participates in the Pan Mass Challenge, a 200-mile, two-day trek across Massachusetts, which in 2010 raised $35 million for cancer. Kevin also enjoys traveling and hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in June 2011 with three of his children.

“It is gratifying being involved with organizations such as Boys and Girls Club and United Way. Having a passion for what I do outside of the office helps focus me to be at the top of my game at a professional level.”
