Bio

Jim Moffatt was elected chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte Consulting LLP on May 2, 2011. He succeeds Punit Renjen, who was recently elected chairman of Deloitte LLP.

Jim previously served as national managing director for the consulting practice’s Clients & Industries group, as well as a member of the Deloitte Consulting LLP Executive Committee, Deloitte Consulting LLP Board of Directors, and the Deloitte LLP Board of Directors.
During his 24 years with Deloitte, Moffatt has built a career and reputation for serving clients with distinction, championing collaboration across all of Deloitte’s business subsidiaries and industry practices, and modeling Deloitte’s culture and values.

“Our talent and our culture lie at the very core of who we are. I am honored and privileged to serve such a remarkable practice of dedicated professionals, who, in turn, serve clients with distinction every day,” said Moffatt.

“I am very excited about our opportunity to set new standards in consulting. We will continue investing in our people as current and future leaders in the marketplace. And, we will continue finding break-through ways to create tangible and measurable impact for our clients."

Jim leads by example through ongoing involvement in the marketplace. His work is centered on strategy and operations within the health care and life sciences industry. He serves as the advisory partner at two leading health care organizations and is regularly involved with numerous high-profile and highly complex engagements. He has direct experience with a broad range of consulting capabilities – from large IT transformations to small advisory projects. Forging the link between serving clients and attaining market leadership, Jim established the “Client Excellence” program, a community for the leaders of the consulting practice’s 100+ largest accounts, while also strengthening collaboration among industry, function and geographic practices.

Jim is also committed to creating impactful programs to develop people and deliver value to the community. He is an active mentor and coach, and also was instrumental in radically shifting Deloitte’s pro bono community involvement program from supporting ad-hoc projects to creating a strategic program that has received national acclaim – including White House recognition for bringing skills that create significant social impact and enhance business value.
Jim earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego and a master’s degree in business administration from UCLA. He was recently recognized by UCLA Anderson as one of its “100 Inspirational Alumni.”
