James Cascone is the national leader of Deloitte’s food & product safety practice. His global consumer business experience is reflected in the practice’s holistic perspective on food and product safety and his team’s approach to providing local solutions to address global issues. James is the co-leader for the Center for the Global Food Value Chain.
James has 20 years of professional experience providing risk advisory services to food & beverage clients. He leads a national team of specialists that help clients with resolving food & product safety operational and science-related challenges. The team has experience in supply chain (i.e., food defense, supplier transparency and supply chain resiliency), quality assurance (i.e., microbiology, chemical / environmental / allergen management, labeling, thermal processing, etc.), product integrity (e.g., human factors), compliance and standards management, and value chain (predictive) analytics.
He also serves as Deloitte’s national Restaurant / Foodservice Industry leader, sharing leading practices with clients and Deloitte’s network of industry practitioners. He has co-authored papers on Food Safety and the Food Safety Modernization Act, serves on the Board of The Los Angeles Conservation Corps, and is fluent in French and Italian.
James received a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Business Administration from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He earned his professional certificate in Accountancy from the University of California, San Diego, and completed the Harvard Business School executive leadership program for leading professional service firms.
James is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and is certified in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for sustainability reporting.
