At The Deloitte Center for Cyber Innovation we work with our clients on trying to make their business operations more effective and efficient and also to try and protect them against the numerous vulnerabilities that are alive and well and operating against us in cyberspace today.
I think the business sectors that will need to capitalize the most on this area of cyberspace or use of the Internet involve health care, the areas of transportation, the energy area, and I would also say that the banking and finance industry can really benefit tremendously again from better use of the Internet and better movement and faster movement of communications.
My father was a door to door milk salesman. His customers would give him the keys to their home. They would ask him to come inside, set the temperature on the oven to 350, put the roast in, so that they could enjoy nice, warm dinner when they would get home from work that day. This trust really instilled in me a value of just how significant that is that someone would trust you with the keys to their home and that my father would do anything that a customer asked for him to do.
Deloitte gave me a great opportunity and challenge. I could see that they were looking for someone to think differently and to challenge them with their ideas and coming from a world of 35 years in a government activity, I thought that I might be able to give them some new ways and new perspectives of thinking about how to do the business and you know from day one Deloitte has given me that challenge and that continued to allow me to get up out of bed excited to come to work every day of my life.
