Craig Giffi

BioCraig Giffi is a vice chairman and the leader for the U.S. Consumer & Industrial Products Industry practice spanning the Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Consumer Products, Process & Industrial, Retail & Distribution, and Travel, Hospitality & Leisure Industry practices for Deloitte LLP. Craig is also the chairman of the Global Manufacturing Industry practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL). In addition to his U.S. Consumer & Industrial Products Industry practice responsibilities, Craig has primary responsibility for Deloitte’s day-to-day activities as a member of the Council on Competitiveness working with industry CEOs, university presidents and labor leaders to shape the debate on competitiveness. He is also a Trustee of The Manufacturing Institute helping to drive thought leadership regarding manufacturing talent, innovation and contributions to the American economy and participates as a subject matter expert regarding manufacturing competitiveness with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) on their efforts to shape the debate on the issues impacting manufacturers in the United States and around the globe. Currently, Craig is leading a multi-year Manufacturing Competitiveness initiative in partnership with the Council on Competitiveness with the objectives of establishing a global competitiveness index defining both critical drivers of competitiveness for nations and companies and the ranking of countries based on manufacturing CEO input from around the world. This research is helping uncover the new models for success for the 21st century being adopted by the most capable and competitive global manufacturers today. Craig is also leading Deloitte’s manufacturing research efforts with the World Economic Forum; having recently co-authored the report The Future of Manufacturing for the Forum. Craig assisted with the release of this report and helped facilitate CEO, government leader, and academic leader discussion regarding the reports key findings at the Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland in January 2012. Craig is currently leading Deloitte’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum on their Manufacturing for Growth project effort intended to be completed in time for Davos 2013. Craig is the co-author of the book Competing in World Class Manufacturing – America’s Twenty First Century Challenge and has been a guest lecturer at the GE Whitney Symposium, the Council on Competitiveness, the Global Federation of Council’s on Competitiveness, the World Economic Forum’s annual session in Davos Switzerland, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Aspen Institute. More recently, Craig was asked to testify before the U.S. Congress on Deloitte’s manufacturing competitiveness research. Join the Conversation
