BioChester J. "Chet" Wood is chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte Tax LLP, and has led the Tax practice since April 2003. Based in New York, Chet is responsible for the strategic direction, operational execution and overall leadership of Deloitte Tax. He is also the managing partner of the Deloitte U.S. Firms' Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practice, and the global Tax service line leader of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's M&A practice. He is a member of Deloitte LLP's Operating Committee and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's Global Tax Executive Committee. His numerous client activities include serving as advisory partner on a number of the Deloitte U.S. Firms' largest Fortune 500 clients. Chet began his career with the organization in 1981 in Salt Lake City as an audit staff professional. He has worked in our offices in Boise, Idaho; New York; San Francisco; and Sydney, Australia. He has been lead tax partner for a variety of global clients, and served in the organization's Office of the Chairman program, providing strategy and service to global clients. When he was the country managing partner based in Sydney, our Tax and Legal practice doubled the number of client service professionals, tripled practice revenue and moved to No. 2 from No. 5 in overall market position; and the practice was recognized by the International Tax Review as one of the top tax practices in Australia. Prior to his current appointment, Chet served as deputy managing partner of the U.S. Tax practice. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds licenses in Idaho and New York. He also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the state societies of CPAs for both Idaho and New York. Chet is a cum laude graduate of The College of Idaho (formerly known as Albertson College of Idaho) with majors in finance and accounting, and serves on the college's board of trustees.
