When I think about my journey at Deloitte, I look at it as seven or eight different career paths that have all just so nicely lined up within the same organization. I am very fortunate for that.

My own career was surely a model for Mass Career Customization or what we call MCC. But I’m not the only one. If you look across our great firm, there are many successful careers that have not followed that traditional rung by rung path and in fact have navigated much more of a lattice than a corporate ladder.
I recall the time, when I was given the role as Deloitte’s first global e-business leader. To really kind of figure out what this big shift was going to mean to us as an organization and to our clients and I had a point of view of where this was going and my boss at that time had a different point of view, let’s say, and to his credit and to the credit of an organization that is just so open minded and willing to explore and look at other points of view, we came to the right place.

I believe that achieving a sustainable career-life fit is actually an on-going pursuit.

Here is a very treasured item. This is a mom’s coupon book that I got from my kids and you know, in it are things like I am going to clean my room, I am going to clear the table, I am going to wash the dishes, watch my sister.

When I think about the people at Deloitte, I think about collegiality, but I also think about very sharp wit and a very sharp intellect; people that keep you fresh every day. I wouldn’t be where I am today without some tenacity on my part and a heck of a lot of opportunity on Deloitte’s part.
