Alison Kenney Paul is the vice chairman and U.S. Retail & Distribution leader at Deloitte, a national practice that provides audit, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to retail, wholesale and distribution companies.

In her role, Alison is responsible for overseeing one of the largest industry practices at Deloitte that includes more than 1,400 professionals. She heads the strategic direction, operational execution and overall leadership of the industry. She is also a preeminent spokesperson and author on retail trends and actively serves as a senior advisor to some of Deloitte's largest Fortune 500 retail clients.

"My professional network has taught me some valuable lessons, but a very important one is that relationships drive trust, and trust drives business. The economy may fluctuate, industries and companies may change, but relationships provide a source of good advice to help you excel."

Based in Chicago, Alison brings to her role nearly 30 years of business development and marketing experience, having formerly worked at Procter & Gamble. Since starting with Deloitte in 2002, she has assisted companies with strategy planning and design as well as improving operational efficiencies. Alison is a member of Deloitte's Board Council, a group of 10 partners who advise the organization's chairman and its board of directors on various matters impacting the business. Recently, she was named to the Profiles in Diversity Journal "2011 Women Worth Watching" list, which celebrates the achievements and personalities of women executives who are distinguished in their fields.

In 2008, Alison was named president of the Network of Executive Women (NEW) – a leading retail and consumer products organization promoting women and a diverse workforce through education, networking and leadership. Prior to being elected president, she served NEW as president-elect and sponsorship chair – doubling the number of the organization's national sponsors. Additionally, she was founder and co-chair of NEW's Chicago Chapter in 2008. Today, she continues to serve NEW as past chairman on its board.

When taking a break from NEW or Deloitte, Alison is active in a number of professional and community initiatives and is a member of the National Retail Federation's Board of Directors and Associate Member Advisory Council. She is also an active volunteer at the Hazelden Foundation and co-founder of Insight Through Art – a non-profit art therapy program at select Chicago Public Schools.

Alison is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in marketing and journalism. She is married to William, an advertising executive, and together they enjoy traveling, baseball, comedy and contemporary art.
