A federal agency seeks assistance in managing repair and alteration projects at aging facilities

Abstract

The Capital Projects Consulting team of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP helped a federal agency manage several repair and alteration capital projects at a regional facility, enabling the client agency to more quickly address needed repairs and to do so with construction industry experience otherwise unavailable to the client.

The Challenge

A federal agency’s regional facility needed immediate upgrades and repairs to support mission critical activities. To execute these upgrades and repairs, the department needed industry specialists to procure and administer contracts for the necessary design and construction services.

How We Helped

Our Capital Projects Consulting team assisted the federal agency with issues related to its repair and alteration capital projects from preconstruction through project closeout. During the preconstruction phase, our team assisted the client with its requirements analysis, scope of work development, estimating, and contract procurement. Throughout the design and construction phases of the project, our team assisted the client with its contract administration including design review, correspondence management, invoice review, and schedule and budget management. Lastly, during closeout we assisted the client with its punch-list inspections, reviewed as-built drawings and project documentation.

Our project oversight methodology was used to help this agency address critical needs in their aging facilities. The client is experiencing improved efficiency and effectiveness in its execution of capital projects at its facilities.
