Meet Janet Moran
Janet Moran is the Global Tax Industry Leader, Global Tax Technology, Media and Telecommunications Leader and U.S. Tax Leader of the Media and Entertainment practice (M&E). She also serves as a NY-based Lead Tax Principal for global M&E clients.
Janet grew up in The Bronx, New York and feels it may have been her greatest influence in life. “I attribute 99 percent of my success to growing up in the City,” she says.
Janet earned her undergraduate degree in political science at SUNY Albany and her law degree from New York Law School. She then joined a public accounting firm to further her business background for a possible corporate law future. In the early stages of her career, on the job training exposed Janet to business, finance and accounting. Her experiences with the IPOs and mergers & acquisitions of media clients convinced her that accounting was a great career path with significant opportunities.
During her 22-year career, she has advised clients on a wide range of tax issues, including international tax planning; mergers and acquisitions, withholding tax reductions; Section 199 deductions; ETI benefits; R&D tax credits; depreciation and amortization acceleration; accounting method changes; credits and incentives; state and local tax planning and structuring; sales and use tax planning and savings; and federal, state and local tax compliance.
Janet has provided professional services to some of the leading M&E companies – many since their early start up years. She has advised and assisted as these companies grew and evolved into formidable organizations.

Janet is a frequent speaker at tax and industry forums, such as Georgetown’s Computer and Internet Law Symposium, Practicing Law Institute, ATLAS, Sundance Film Festival and Broadband Tax Institute. She also co-authored a comprehensive Overview of Internet Taxation that was published by the Georgetown Computer and Internet Law Review.
