Steve Wander is a Principal in the Minneapolis office of Deloitte Consulting LLP. Steve has over 20 years of experience as a health actuary and leads Deloitte’s Public Sector actuarial practice. He has consulted with HMOs, large national health insurers, Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans, medical device companies, health care providers, government agencies, and employers on issues such as health insurance exchanges, health reform, risk-adjustment, Medicaid rate setting and rate certification, and product development.
Steve has extensive experience working with a state Health and Human Services and Insurance Departments, serving as Lead Engagement Principal on several engagements, including projects related to health insurance exchange planning and health care reform.
In addition to this work, Steve has also led recent engagements with state Medicaid programs related to Medicaid redesign and has helped a commercial health plan investigate the feasibility of entering the managed Medicaid market.
Steve is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
