Health Financing – Resource Tracking and National Health Accounts
Timely, reliable, and complete information on financial resources for health is critical for policymaking and planning purposes, especially in countries where resources are scarce and unpredictable. Tracking health resources is an essential component of health system strengthening. Deloitte recognizes that routine exercises in resource tracking can help countries commit resources where they are needed most, improving overall health outcomes and helping them achieve the health-related Millennium Development Goals.
National Health Accounts (NHA) are a widely used and globally recognized framework for measuring and tracking the flow of funds in a country's health system. As one of the leaders in the development and application of NHA, Deloitte remains a key ally for governments and policymakers alike as they institutionalize NHA processes within their tracking and planning systems, as well as decide how to prioritize funds and design more effective interventions to achieve health objectives. Data from routine NHA exercises can provide consistent information on resources devoted to specific health services, such as maternal and child health, reproductive health, and HIV, among others. This allows leaders to design policies and programs that are based on evidence and can help them achieve health objectives.
