Working Together to Make A Difference
An open letter from our health reform leaders
On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. On March 30, 2010, he signed into law the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act. Together, these reforms will trigger sweeping change and disruption across the industry, but they will unfold over years, with many of the major provisions becoming effective in 2014. Industry leaders are asking, “What now?”
Over the years, you have often heard us speak about how we, at Deloitte, want to make a difference in health care delivery and financing and improve the quality of life for health care consumers through the clients we serve. That aspiration has never been more relevant and real than it is today. Regardless of ideology or political perspective, many have held for years that our current health care system is broken; that it delivers an inconsistent level of quality care at, in many cases, questionable value; and that it leaves many outside of the system. The PPACA does not solve all of these problems. The challenge before us is to help each of you, our clients and friends throughout the health care “ecosystem,” in your efforts to solve these issues. For some of you, this will take place within the new environment, and for others, despite it.
The system has truly converged and – based on the depth of our team, scope of our services and industry-leading reputation – we are uniquely qualified to help Health Care Providers, Health Plans, Life Sciences organizations, State Government Health, Federal Government Health, employers, and even individuals navigate through, and even thrive in, the turbulent times ahead. Join us in this endeavor starting now.

These are difficult but exciting times, full of challenges and opportunities for you, our clients and friends, and for us. Working together, we have the potential to make a difference and create a legacy — for each of our organizations and for our country — of which we can all be proud.
