Bio
C. Ryan Brewer joined Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Federal practice in Summer 2011 as a Senior Manager in Technology Risk in Deloitte’s Federal practice where he is focused on strategic cybersecurity initiatives, helping clients transform their cyber programs to be more proactive, agile, and adaptive in support of their mission.
Prior to joining Deloitte & Touche, Ryan spent more than 15 years working in various leadership positions in both private and public sector organizations within the United States and around the world developing and transforming large information technology (IT) security programs.
Most recently, Ryan was the former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Director at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). At CMS, Ryan reinvented the enterprise-wide information security program with strategic planning and execution of an Enterprise Security Operations Center and Enterprise Vulnerability Management program.
Prior to serving at CMS, he served at the Department of the Interior as the Trust Security Officer and technical lead to successfully bring the five Trust bureau/offices and 20,000 end users online after having all Internet connectivity removed for a period of seven years.
In 2011, Ryan was awarded by his peers the RSA Conference award for Excellence in the Field of Security Practices.
Ryan holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology\Biotechnology from East Carolina University, and a CISSP certification.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. Ryan also enjoys golf, running, coaching his children in sports, and playing rugby when possible.
